3 daggers Catenarian Chronicles puts into mainstream narratives

Catenarian Chronicles is a dark paranormal fantasy that sticks yet another dagger into mainstream narratives in a few unique ways.

My mission in fiction is to prove you can write something without falling into usual genre formulas, and that readers will remember you. I’ve been wanting to do this my entire life, ever since I started noticing patterns in fantasy, dystopian fiction, sci-fi, you name it.

Unlike genre-first readers, I don’t like picking up another book or series that’s too much like the one I finished twenty minutes ago. So when I started writing books, I was bound to create something different.

Catenarian Chronicles may be a dark paranormal fantasy, but it’s a true non-typical. Here are three ways it sticks a stake to mainstream fiction narratives.

1 – It’s a dark fantasy with real-life monsters

There may be seven-foot-tall guards looking to kill the main character every now and again, but the real monsters here hide in offices and draft policy. They’re passing bills into laws that enhance mass surveillance using secretive, supernatural means.

The latter might be the only difference between Catenarian Chronicles and the real world. And it’s not a big ‘might.’

2 – It mixes modern-day and old-world fantasy

I just mentioned modern-day fantasy elements above. The world of Catenary also comes equipped with 22nd-century tech, like watch phones with hologram touchscreens.

As for old-world fantasy elements, Mages channel their magic through ancient swords that manifest in their hands when they master their chosen element. Mages also prefer taking up residence in buildings that have existed for centuries, like medieval castles.

3 – Its themes are blunt, not subtle

Cursed Mage, a dark paranormal fantasy by TC MartiI’m an unapologetic, pro-libertarian, pro-Rothbardian author and proud of it. So much, that I don’t beat around the bush. You’re getting libertarian genre fusion with dark fantasy and paranormal elements, and Cursed Mage isn’t shy about showing it off.

Whether it’s spitting on mainstream dogmas that’ve plagued modern-day institutions, talking about the torture of those committed to more notorious institutions, or sticking a middle finger to mass surveillance, it’s up close and personal in Cursed Mage.

This piece is shorter than usual, since it’s Christmas Eve and I’m on crunch time. Anyway, you get the big picture. And if you’re libertarian AF or looking for something that secedes from mainstream fantasy, check out Cursed Mage at The Rebel Lore Vault. Not at Amazon, where they’ll surveil your ass off.
