A lone writer sits at a rough wooden desk in a dim, candle-lit study, surrounded by stacks of manuscripts and ink-stained parchment. Deep red light cuts through the darkness as he writes in solitude, his face turned away, evoking rebellion, intellectual defiance, and an underground literary atmosphere.

A better name for my unapologetic literary takes

Rune-Written Resistance is now The Rogue Scribe, a name that makes my unapologetic literary takes stick a stake into mainstream narratives.

When I came up with the name Rune-Written Resistance, I wanted something that would emulate my fiction and hint at what it’s about.

But I feel the name’s too abstract, and that it has absolutely zero identity. That said, I’m officially changing the name to The Rogue Scribe, starting with this very post.

The good news is that the content you’re reading here isn’t changing. Heck, the site’s layout; its black-on-dark red color scheme will stay intact, as will the Rune-Written Resistance logo, since it has my initials written in runes.

I’m literally going from Cleveland Indians to Cleveland Guardians here: I couldn’t find a hockey reference, so I thought I’d go with baseball instead.

Why roll with The Rogue Scribe and not something else?

A few reasons. One, I always liked the way rogue rolled off the tongue. Two, it fits my brand in a nutshell. It’s all about taking sanitized, safe literary norms that I feel have plagued the industry for a while now and forging my own path.

I don’t write to fill genre boxes, using “inclusive language,” tokenism, or a performative voice. Instead, I just write the damn post and couldn’t care less if it made me look like a hero, a villain, or a tweener.

I write because I feel like way too many people out there self-censor because they’re afraid of putting their reputation on the line, of losing their job, and the comfortable life they’ve created for themselves because they’ve played by the rules.

That said, somebody has to say what these people are thinking. Someone unafraid of the consequences, because he knows fate would subject him to eternal torment if he didn’t.

The Rogue Scribe it is…

Beyond the Lost Horizon by TC MartiOverall, I’m stoked for this name change. And since you guys have really been active in opening my emails when I have something to say, I just wanted to give you a quick heads up regarding the shift, that way you wouldn’t see an email and say, “Who the hell’s The Rogue Scribe?

I can’t wait to inject more unapologetic literary and writing takes right here on this newsletter, keep talking about real-life inspiration behind my work, sharing my work with you that you can’t get anywhere else, and take deeper dives into character lore, essays, etc.

If they share one common denominator, it’s that they buck mainstream tropes, narratives, and sanitized, safe text. See ya in 2026, if not before then.
