An alternate reading order for the Renegades Epic
You can read the Renegades Epic in multiple ways. So, if you wanted to simply stick to the same series before diving into another, it’s possible.
I already outlined the ideal way to read my shared universe, the Renegades Epic, but you might prefer reading each series before moving on to the next set of books. If that’s how you roll, then I have an alternate reading list that would better suit your preferences.
Instead of going in series order, I built this list of series on the following:
- Strongest, most easily digestible series first
- The original series I wrote
- Two “spin-off” series
- A series with ultra-complex plots
- A prequel series
This way is more conventional, and less MCU-like. Further, at my Payhip store, The Rebel Lore Vault, this is the order I’ll ultimately list each series in the Renegades Epic.
Catenarian Chronicles (world of Catenary)
Cursed Mage, Astray Mage, plus two more
Starting with the strongest of the first-in-series, if you want a feel for my strongest series starter, then Cursed Mage should be the go-to. Also, if you read specifically genre fiction and want a slower dive into work that pushes genre limits and carves its own path, Cursed Mage will ease you into it. Side Note: The ‘w’ in world is lowercase on purpose.
Elementals of Nordica (World of Eidolon)
Wind Wielder, Wind Master, Wind Keeper, Wind Ruler, plus two more
Having no clear-cut No. 1 genre is the genre in Elementals of Nordica. But Wind Wielder, far from my strongest series starter, gives you insights on the magical systems without overwhelming you with the Five Worlds. Wind Master gradually takes you through a few more of these worlds, but it’s told in a way that won’t throw too much at you.
Sentrys of Terrene (World of Terrene)
The Rebellion Awakens, The Last Sentrys, Rise of the Sentrys
Wind Master gives you a fine overview of what happened in the World of Terrene, where Sentrys of Terrene takes place. So, it’s natural to follow it up with the complete trilogy, especially since Sentrys and Elementals will “merge” following this trilogy’s conclusion. Side Note: Sentrys is intentionally spelled that way.
Chronicles of Rondure (World of Rondure)
Civil War, BattleFront, plus two more
Civil War had generally gotten good feedback, but some reported during the initial review process that it could be confusing and read like a “spinoff.” And they’re not wrong, since the series mentions worlds like Eidolon and Terra early in the text. That said, the rest of Civil War reads like its own series. Ditto for BattleFront.
Terrian Chronicles (World of Terra)
Liza Fury, Tarja Titan, Liza Fury: Catch 22, Tarja Titan: Sophomore Year, plus three more
If you wanted, you could read these books before Elementals, but the World of Eidolon is mentioned in Tarja Titan. That said, it fits best next-to-last in the pecking order. Further, you’ll also have enough of my style down when you get to Tarja Titan: Sophomore Year, you won’t be in “What the hell” mode.
Cymraeg Tales (World of Eidolon)
Spirit and Fire, Spirit and Water, Spirit and Earth, plus one more for the Renegades Epic
The 600-year prequel to Elementals of Nordica is what I would save for last. Not only does it better resemble old-world epic fantasy, it also mentions the Five Worlds and the state each one is in during the time period. Plus, it’s a prequel series, so why not wait until last before you read it?
