Quinn Cozens borderline made a deal with the devil before the events of Beyond the Lost. When he thought he lost everything, the worst was yet to come.

Beyond the Lost Horizon opens with Quinn Cozens reminiscing on his past and living in guilt. There was a time when Quinn was happy, carefree, and loving. All the way until his late-middle school years.

Then, he discovered the ways of the world, and Quinn became so ambitious, he sacrificed relationship after relationship, and burned bridge after bridge. When Quinn finally got what he wanted, he didn’t want it at all.

The sportswriter covering the NFL, and an independent one at that, realized he had nothing of worth. By then it was too late. His sister, Jackie, wanted nothing to do with him. And all four of Quinn’s grandparents had passed.

Other than his cousin, Jonas, his extended family wanted nothing to do with him.

Quinn Cozens officially lost everything in Beyond the Lost Horizon

Beyond the Lost Horizon by TC MartiWhen things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse for Quinn despite his freedom-based job and the ability to live life on his terms, thanks to his deal with the devil, tragedy struck. The K-pop metal concert Quinn attended became Ground Zero for the worst terrorist attack in American history.

Any last vestige of Quinn’s life went to the wayside as he rushed to escape the onslaught of gunfire, mangled bodies, and the stench of death. At least until he ran into Yui Kikuchi, a girl who challenged Quinn in ways he wasn’t prepared for.

While Yui proved to be a headcase early, she also became a symbol for redemption. Quinn may’ve lost everything he had and everyone close to him, but he could keep the girl next to him at his side.
