Ella Kinnunen begins Deceived Mage sitting on a castle rampart, watching Astronova glow across the river. She has no idea about the pure hell that awaits. The city combines chrome skyscrapers with magical crystal spires, modern technology fused with ancient power, and a skyline capable of convincing a sixteen-year-old inventor that the future is hers…
Diversity and inclusion are two buzzwords of the Left. And they mean something completely different from how I utilized them in my dark paranormal fantasy. Read Catenarian Chronicles, and you’re going to find something out really quickly. Its cast is almost exclusively white. That wasn’t by design; it just was. Maybe because I gave them predominantly Finnish…
“A whole civilization will die” is more nonsense from Donald Trump. But one book is literally about that concept. And it’s frightening as hell. Donald Trump’s a madman. We know that much. In the days leading to the US-Iranian ceasefire, Trump posted, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” Luckily, that…
Astray Mage is a disturbing dark paranormal fantasy, and one that comes with a message that any decent human being would embrace. Sean Hannity was on TV at the gym shortly after Israel and the US launched joint strikes on Iran and I swear, my IQ dropped 20 points every time my eyes met the…
It’s easy to buy into war propaganda and cheer on vicious military strikes when they’re happening halfway across the globe. Astray Mage takes a deep dive into a cataclysmic event that shook the nation two-to-three years before the book’s events. I launched Astray Mage one week ago, just days after the U.S. and Israel launched strikes on…
Catenarian Chronicles isn’t your stereotypical dark paranormal fantasy. Instead, its themes run deep, complex, and current. If you’re here, it means you’ve stumbled across my libertarian dark paranormal fantasy series, Catenarian Chronicles. And you’re so interested, you wanna know more about it. Below, I got dozens of profiles of some kick-ass characters you’re gonna know,…
Hints that a dark trafficking ring exists start in Cursed Mage. Once Astray Mage rolls around, everything goes straight to hell. If you don’t think my Catenarian Chronicles series ain’t dark, you haven’t been looking in the proper places. In Book I, Cursed Mage, I hint at institutions, and that should be all you need to know for…
Catenarian Chronicles will be the most unique dark paranormal fantasy you’ll ever read. Why? It’s not typical genre fiction. I hate writing genre fiction. When I started writing, I used to say, “Okay, this one’s for the mass market aaaand it’s not.” My mind wouldn’t conform to typical genre formulas, so I said “screw it”…
How about we start our own free city or even our own country? Sound insane? My dark paranormal fantasy says, “Not so fast, my friend!” Yeah, taking words from the great Lee Corso, legendary college football analyst who, for decades, did something he was passionate about. Most people can’t say that. But sometimes, being passionate…
Catenarian Chronicles is a dark paranormal fantasy that sticks yet another dagger into mainstream narratives in a few unique ways. My mission in fiction is to prove you can write something without falling into usual genre formulas, and that readers will remember you. I’ve been wanting to do this my entire life, ever since I…
Dark fantasy often involves monsters, hopelessness, and dread amidst dank worlds. Catenarian Chronicles reads differently, but the core elements are there. Catenarian Chronicles kicks off with dread. Book I in the series, Cursed Mage, sees unimaginable tragedy early. Then things spiral even further. Our protagonist, Kaija Jokiharju, sees people making things happen through supernatural means. When she…
Deceived Mage takes place two years before the events of Cursed Mage and the Catenarian Chronicles series. But it’s not branded in the same way. Look at Cursed Mage and Astray Mage and you’re gonna find two books that look alike. Then check out Deceived Mage, and you’re gonna have a what the fuck moment. Why does the cover look so different? And…
