Sabre Kjaergaard is by far the most heart-wrenching character in the Renegades Epic, and it’s not even close when you take a deep dive. Sabre’s tale begins as a curious rebel. Someone who asks, “What would happen if I stepped out of line?” Unfortunately for Sabre, her Sentry heritage already chose her fate. If she…
Quinn Cozens lost his old world. Sabre Kjaergaard learned hers was always a lie. That makes these tragic protagonists so similar, yet different. Quinn Cozens and Sabre Kjaergaard would understand one another better than either would probably admit. Both are stubborn, they question authority before most people around them realize authority deserves questioning, are fiercely…
Sentrys of Terrene is a loose retelling of Star Wars, but let’s put a Potter-like spin on it and sort our favorite fantasy heroine. Let’s get one thing out of the way before someone starts clutching their wand like I just insulted their bloodline. Slytherin doesn’t mean evil. Gryffindor doesn’t mean good. Ravenclaw doesn’t mean…
The Star Wars tragedy shown throughout the prequel and original trilogies inspired the Sentrys of Terrene plotlines to a T. One of the easiest traps with fantasy prequels is pretending they exist only to explain the “real” story. That’s how you end up with a prequel that feels like homework and just shows what a…
Sentrys of Terrene is my dark post-apocalyptic dystopian military science fantasy trilogy that acts as a sister series to Elementals of Nordica. I have two series coming to The Rebel Lore Vault by the end of February: Chronicles of Rondure and Sentrys of Terrene. Chronicles of Rondure is a borderline grimdark dystopian military science fantasy, and it’s ideal reading after you…
Sentrys of Terrene is a Star Wars retelling, but one that fuses elemental magic, post-apocalyptic dystopian concepts, and military fantasy. Before you ask: Yes, Sentrys is spelled that way on purpose. It looked better on the cover, so I kept it. Also, before you ask me what the hell’s this trilogy about, I thought I’d let you…
Sentrys of Terrene contains what may look like a typo when you look closely at it, but it’s by design. So, why is Sentrys apparently misspelled? If you checked out my Sentrys of Terrene trilogy, you may’ve noticed something strange. If you haven’t yet caught it, Sentrys is spelled incorrectly. It’s not written as Sentries,…
Sentrys of Terrene featured a nice little classic named 1984. But Brave New World should’ve stolen the spotlight, and it’s not even close. Oh yes, Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World is a blueprint in the tyrannical Empire of Vranom. Because in this centrally planned society, two things are clear: Everyone’s life is planned out for…
Another Star Wars Day has come and gone, unless one counts Revenge of the Sixth. Yet, its influence on some awesome works never fades. Here I am, writing this article on May 8th, and a few days have passed since Star Wars Day on May 4th. But I didn’t want that to stop me from…
Few stories have shaped modern mythos like Star Wars. But not every tribute to George Lucas’ creation needs lightsabers and hyperspace. My trilogy Sentrys of Terrene is proof that a rebellion’s heart beats just as fiercely under the dust of a shattered world as it does in the stars. Set in an absolute wasteland of…
Post-apocalyptic dystopian science fantasy…wow, that’s one long name for a niche genre work. But it kicked off when I got stuck in a rut. Back in November 2021, I gave myself a personal ultimatum: Ghostwrite for about 12 hours a day, five days a week, or consider other options. I chose the latter, knowing that…
The Rebellion Awakens kicks off the Sentrys of Terrene trilogy with a gritty mix of science fantasy, military rebellion, and post-apocalyptic tension. The World of Terrene may lie in ruin, but Sabres fans will feel right at home with the tributes scattered across every chapter. Sabres references fuel the foundation of the book’s characters, factions,…
