Split-scene digital painting showing a stark contrast between two worlds: on the left, a stylized Hogwarts Great Hall with students and staff seated in a rigid, artificial atmosphere under cold lighting; on the right, a group of diverse fantasy warriors—armed with elemental swords of fire, water, wind, earth, and smoke—stand united in a rugged battlefield, illuminated by warm, dynamic light, separated by a glowing magical rift.

DEI and wokeism are screwing the Harry Potter TV Series

DEI and wokeism are cancers without a cure throughout most of the entertainment industry. Luckily the fandom isn’t holding back.

Despite what some slanted studies will tell you, DEI and wokeism aren’t taken kindly when regular, average everyday people do the evaluating. This is the market responding to the Harry Potter TV Series’ version of the “butt fumble” in predictable fashion.

Not because they’re racist. That’s the common excuse people who feign the moral high ground turn to so they don’t need to debate a losing argument. Trust me, I worked for a global media company; I know what they’re like. I’ve sat in meetings with them.

Those people are so woke, so far to the Left, and they have their heads stuck so far up their own asses that they truly believe the masses are these backwards barbarians who need guidance. When Deep State Donnie got elected back to the White House in Nov. 2024, half the company lost its shit. To the point my boss at the time actively took part in handling some of their meltdowns.

Many were the same people who suffered severe meltdowns because of J.K. Rowling’s stance on transgenderism. A stance that anyone with a sane mind would agree with. Anyway, let’s talk about the issue at hand: the Harry Potter TV series’ trailer recently got ratioed. That means it garnered more dislikes than likes, and it has nothing to do with Rowling’s usual tribe of haters.

DEI and wokeism could prove me wrong about the Harry Potter TV Series

After I watched the trailer, my immediate reaction was, “Holy shit, this is badass.” Well, next to the black elephant in the room. Still, I was convinced we wouldn’t see a ratio. A few more dislikes than the average number? Absolutely. But there was no way in hell the backlash would be this bad.

Those over at Nerdrotic thought the same, and so did a plethora of other Harry Potter YouTubers. It’s why I said, to paraphrase myself, “Like it or not, this series will be successful.” Now, I’m not sure. Maybe the first season, but with Black Snape looking worse than imagined and a massive influx of Indian students in one particular still, this series is going woke during an age when normal people have been fed up with and are sick of the nonsense.

It’s why we’re no longer scared to voice support for Rowling’s comments on transgenderism. And it’s why we’re no longer worried about faking support for cancers like DEI, ESG, or support for causes we don’t believe in. Obviously, the entertainment industry hasn’t gotten the memo.

If it had, then Severus Snape would like Severus Snape. I haven’t seen backlash this bad since the Cleveland Browns unveiled “cutting-edge” uniforms in 2015. Much to the chagrin of its fanbase.

This is regressive idiocy, not progress

Want to know what would’ve put fans’ asses in front of their TV, laptop, phone, or tablet? A series starring Paapa Essiedu as Kingsley Shacklebolt, following his missions during and even before the Second Wizarding War. That’s progress, because fans would’ve raved about a series with Essiedu playing a leading role as Shacklebolt.

What about a miniseries starring Dean Thomas as he uncovers his backstory? Read Dean’s backstory if you haven’t. It’s one of the most interesting out there.

Why are they both examples of progress? Because you’re creating a new series featuring black characters as the leads that fans would want to watch. Series where black characters should be leads. Imagine if they had a series featuring Shacklebolt or Thomas, and they cast white actors. People would lose their shit just as quickly, and rightfully so.

Instead, the signals mass media send is: We need more representation, so we’re going to cast a black man to play an iconic white character. Even if that same white character was:

  • Bullied by white classmates and hung from a tree
  • Chasing a white girl throughout his time in school
  • Had students and staff distrust him
  • Called horrendous names by Harry Potter and Ron Weasley
  • Joining a gang of racists
  • Implied to have been physically abused in a broken home
  • Grew up in poverty

There’s nothing more regressive than this when you put a black man in that role.

DEI and wokeism are killing us

I live in that conservative right-wing area that you’re told on the news is full of bad, racist white Christians. Don’t get me wrong: some are. Hell, a contingent are more fanatical about Deep State Donnie than Bellatrix Lestrange was about Voldemort. And a lot of them are men who call Donnie their “Daddy.” Yeah, go figure…

But you know what? Most people in this area respect those around them. They don’t care who they are, what their nationality is, national origin, religion, or even if they’re acting gender fluid. As long as nobody’s actively seeking representation and trying to force their views or lifestyle on another, then guess what? Like most normal people in society, people in my neck of the woods don’t care.

I see sons and daughters of immigrants act like they’ve been living in the West forever. That’s because most organically embrace Western values, what the West stands for, and to preserve Western culture. Yeah, Mom and Dad came from Eastern nations. So what?

This area, and others like it, show that we don’t need to go all catnip on DEI and wokeism. People, even in right-wing conservative areas full of “evil white Christians” are pretty damn good at looking at others as individuals, not a collective entity.

Get some original series full of protagonists who don’t crave representation

Want to read a story about an East Asian-equivalent girl? Chronicles of Rondure is your fix. What about an olive-skinned girl? Sentrys of Terrene. Co-protagonists who are half Middle Eastern-equivalent? Elementals of Nordica.

Or what about a girl born into a marginalized caste? Cymraeg Tales. A bisexual teen who loves Mises? Terrian Chronicles — the Liza Fury stories. What about a K-pop idol? Beyond the Lost.

Representation is barely thought of in any of these books that I’ve written. Each character is what they are because they just…are.

I’m not filling DEI quotas at The Rebel Lore Vault. I’m writing hard-hitting fiction that bites and fights back against leftist (and the occasional right-wing) dogmas that everyone except for the smug pricks who run the media embrace.

If you’re up for joining the cause, start your binge read at the Vault. Not Amazon, which is part of the cult. But a small-time store hell-bent on fighting back.
