Ella Kinnunen, a girl with almost supernatural features, pale skin, and blonde hair, enters a dark lair.

How to learn a dark secret about Ella Kinnunen

Ella Kinnunen isn’t hiding a dark and dirty secret. But someone closer to her than she thinks is. And that secret’s more disturbing than you can imagine.

In my dark paranormal fantasy series, Catenarian Chronicles, there might not be a more enigmatic character than Ella Kinnunen. She’s born into luxury and status, has striking looks that border on supernatural, and, next to our protagonist, Kaija Jokiharju, Ella’s the most gifted Mage you’ll meet.

But there’s a vile and filthy secret hiding from Ella. One that transcends not just the world of Catenary, a place swarming with powerful Mages cloaking themselves in the shadows, but the Five Worlds in my Renegades Epic shared universe, which Catenarian Chronicles is part of.

Learn Ella’s deep, dark secret

One way is to download Deceived Mage, which features Ella in the title role and takes place two years before you’ll meet Kaija. It’s jaw-dropping moment that, if Ella’s secret pertained to any of us, we’d lose our f*cking minds.

We’d feel resentful. Lost even. Beating ourselves up over what would motivate some sick, twisted people to lie to us for over a decade and a half. But that’s not the worst of it.

The only way to uncover this is to read Astray Mage through my Rebel Lore Vault, where I’ll let you in even deeper. So much, that you’ll be left wondering what other abhorrent facts have been kept not only from Ella, but other characters.

Ella Kinnunen doesn’t know the level of evil she’s dealing with

I’m a different kind of dark fantasy author. I don’t have monsters in my work like most cookie-cutter authors gaming algorithms. Nor do I have light and dark, good vs. evil, where your villains are so cartoonish they may as well sit in a cushioned, leather office chair and twirl their mustaches while the world goes to hell.

No. The level of evil Ella Kinnunen and the other main characters in my shared universe deal with mirrors what we face in our own world.

One where the elites pretend to care for the Average Joe, Plain Jane, and those living in abject poverty worldwide. Only to strip the former bare with taxes while turning the powerless into ashes as they preach humanitarianism.

People those same elites look on as sheep for slaughter whenever the next manufactured crisis arises. Or those snatched in the dead of the night, only to be on their way, blindfolded and bound, to an underground black market human trafficking ring those same elites head up that they’re pretending to fight.

But take that evil and multiply it by ten. That’s the level of grime and disgust that goes on in my worlds. And one that spawned Ella in the most diabolical way.
