Neocons, commies, and many journalists think in cartoons
Nothing is worse than behavioral scripting, and it’s one common denominator neocons share with commies. Ditto for a contingent of journalists.
I bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad late last year and it’s an absolute P.O.S. I can’t even edit a Substack article unless I log onto Brave’s private browser first.
The other day, I did that, and came across this laughable quote from some journalist named Aaron Parnas:
“I will never be bought out. I will never cave.”
I can just imagine this cat raising his fist in the air and making what he thinks is a bold proclamation in front of a microphone like some cartoon caricature. There was more to it than that one line, but wow, how many times have I seen, heard, watched, or read about fictional characters making those same proclamations?
Seriously, I wish I kept track of it, and that’s the tip of a larger iceberg.
Let’s fast-forward to a little experiment I concocted for the first time in a while on Substack. One that included jumping into debates with communists. And no, not Soviet-style communists — “real communism has never been tried” communists.
“Real communism has never been tried communists” fear worldview destabilization
These people crack me up. Of course, they tell me what I already know: that “real communism” requires the abolition of the State, something they actually have in common with a Rothbardian anarcho-capitalist like myself. Even when they pretend otherwise.
Here’s where it got good: One user told me in a very “matter-of-fact” manner as though they knew the world that “capitalism required a State because the State is needed to protect land and property owners at the exploitation of everyone else.”
My response? I introduced them to Rothbard. And wow, talk about them beating around the bush and flat-out refusing to dive into his work, which includes Anatomy of the State, What has Government Done to Our Money, Man, Economy, and State, and Ethics of Liberty, to name a few.
