Puck the State is joining the TC Marti brand this September

I’m launching Puck the State on the blog. Here’s what to expect—raw, honest, and politically unfiltered hockey coverage and blunt takes.

Since the 2025–26 NHL season is right around the corner, I figured it was time for me to entwine the TC Marti brand with what I do full-time.

But unlike the mainstream sports media circus that regurgitates talking points and hides behind corporate partnerships, I’m here to talk hockey the way it ought to be talked about: with backbone, clarity, and zero tolerance for the narrative industrial complex.

I’ve been writing about hockey for years, but this blog’s mostly focused on fiction, philosophy, and liberty. And trust me, I’m upping the ante in all of the above, so no worries there.

But the move to include NHL talk’s long-past due, because sports aren’t apolitical. They haven’t been for a long time, and the way most outlets tiptoe around language to protect sponsors or ideologies is pathetic.

So, I thought I’d get a little disruptive.

What’s Puck the State all about?

Well, for one, you can probably guess that we’re taking my old-school, unapologetic voice up a notch with a name like Puck the State. Sounds a hell of a lot like f*ck the state, right? Hey, we gotta fit the brand, you know?

I’ll have NHL talk for you multiple times per week—expect 2–3 hockey pieces weekly once the season kicks into full gear. Whether it’s game breakdowns, trade analysis, or scathing takedowns of soft officiating and culture, and why theme nights are nothing but lazy PR moves, you’ll get the kind of NHL commentary here that’s not afraid to burn a few bridges.

So if you’re tired of sterile press releases and bland articles with passive voices masquerading as journalism, are sick of propaganda slogans, and you still believe hockey should be about competition and excellence without the unnecessary background noise, you’ll want to follow this space closely.

Because while others toe the line, I’ll be shooting slapshots through goalie masks.

Freedom-based hockey fiction’s becoming a thing

Of course, I wouldn’t be doing any of this if I didn’t have the ulterior motive of writing some hockey fiction in addition to the Renegades Epic, Beyond the Lost, Arcane Awakenings, etc.

With encouragement from the awesome Tom Woods Jr. Mastermind a few months back, I was bound to take this step in as early as May. So, after waiting for things to calm down a little and coming up with a kickass outline that boasts a, you guessed it, libertarian message, the time has come.

One cool outline talks about a high school kid cut from his hockey team because the coach only sought players who’d played the previous season, the brother of another player (because they won’t cut one and keep the other), and two random kids who just weren’t that good but have parents with ties to the school.

Yep, we’re still calling out government schooling here and chirping against the sheer wokeness that’s been plaguing the sports world for far too long. And I can’t wait to get started.

See ya on the inside.
