Taking control of your life is the best kind of activism
Do you want to claw your way out of the system? You can start by taking control of your life and quit letting others dictate it.
We already have enough activists in the libertarian movement, so why would I join the ranks of an already-saturated niche? Plus, it’s not real resistance.
I’m not a libertarian activist for many of the same reasons why I’m no longer a sportswriter (though there is a laundry list of reasons on that front).
I can’t stand activism. It’s a waste of time, and that’s something I didn’t realize until a few years back. Before, I read countless articles from the Mises Institute, Ron Paul Institute, FEE, and occasionally Reason.com, but as opposed to sharing the content, I was doing little.
It wasn’t until I dived into libertarians like Tom Woods did things begin changing. Woods may talk about and deliver his opinion on issues, just like the outlets I mentioned earlier, but unlike so many people, he actually does something about it.
In case you want a rundown, here’s a snippet what Old Woods has to offer:
Tom Woods Podcast, 12-plus books, School of Life, Elite Mastermind, Jr. Mastermind—I was part of this and learned a lot, Liberty Classroom, Supporting Listeners program, Murder Mysteries, and a Cruise—I’m hearing it’s going on hiatus after 2026, but it’s still a popular thing.
I’m sure I’m missing some, but what Woods has done is this: he’s figured out how to build his own freedom-based business with several entry points. That’s genius, and it provided a blueprint for me to not only follow, but spread to others that this is how you rail against and ultimately defeat the system.
Another important lesson I learned from Woods…
OPA, or Other People’s Audiences, is a crucial thing here. Woods is a master at building relationships with other freedom-based marketers like Paul Counts (Marketing Counts), Glen and Eric Meder (Privacy Academy), Mikkel Thorup (Expat Money), John Thornhill—you already know I’m a strong proponent of his program Online Success Coaching (affiliate link)—and others.
But what’s the common denominator, you ask? They’re all successful entrepreneurs who’ve stood the test of time. That’s important, because while you can call some of the above activists, they’ve also built real, sustainable businesses that have the same potential to buck the system.
