The absolute worst type of fiscal conservative on the planet
The fiscal conservative who doubles as a lifestyle socialist might be the worst type of human being on Earth, especially when they justify it.
You know the type I’m talking about, I’m sure. They’re rightfully against government handouts and social “safety nets” that some people out there try to make a living on.
But it doesn’t mean they want to lift a finger and contribute to society in any way, shape, or form out there. Well, I had the misfortune of meeting the worst of the worst of these people during my days as a personal trainer.
This person ranted that handouts create laziness, people need to work for their own success, and that self-reliance built this country. Then, they always chose partners the same way a government program chooses taxpayers.
They ask: Who can fund me? Who can support me? And who can do the adulting for me?
The hypocrisy with fiscal conservatives like this is bar none
People like this want a private welfare program. While I’d like to call that a step above those who don’t mind “robbing Peter to pay Paul” because, in their own twisted mind, Peter somehow stole from Paul, it’s hard to make that assumption.
Some might hit back and say, “But at least this is all voluntary, TC.”
While you’re absolutely right about that, the problem is that people like this are still a financial drain on somebody. It might not be society, but imagine if you saw a strong contingent of people living this way.
Are we any better off because it’s voluntary? To paraphrase Ron Paul in his book, The School Revolution, “liberty comes with responsibility.”
This gym member from back in the day cares about liberty as much as your typical leftist who demands people pay a “fair share” of their taxes while working to censor content they find even remotely offensive and simultaneously shoving their own offensive content down people’s throats and calling them ‘hateful’ if they resist.
Case in point: they’re both adults acting like spoiled toddlers.
I asked the question and their answer confirmed everything
“Why do you date these women anyway?” I asked, knowing what the exact answer was going to be.
“Because they take care of me.”
Listen, if you’re 45 years old, able-bodied, and more than capable of earning your own way, you don’t need someone else taking care of you. And if you do, then you’re a walking contradiction if you believe self-reliance creates success.
Clearly, you just want to exist, b*tch on social media about how the Left is trying to kill this country (which I don’t disagree with); but you expect someone to wait on you, your lack of ambition to the point you won’t lift a finger to earn money is also killing the country because that’s not how the West was built.
Some people hate government dependence, and they should. But when the government is a romantic partner named Susan (just throwing a name out there) who pays their bills and gives them free room and board, that’s the very definition of a loser.
Dependency isn’t noble when the State does it, and it isn’t noble when you outsource it to your romantic partner. Self-reliance is either a value or a costume, and life will expose the difference.
A lesson in self-reliance
Some people in fiction don’t have the luxury of relying on anyone but themselves to survive. That’s the case with Quinn Cozens and his unlikely sidekick, Yui Kikuchi.
After a Red Dawn-like attack sends America into a hellhole and terrorists invading the nation are killing anyone and everyone indiscriminately for getting in their way, Quinn and Yui are in a bind.
There’s nobody else to rely on when these smart terrorists made sure that no law enforcement, military, militia, or National Guard had the means to rescue them. Now that they’re on their own, it’s do or die, and they’re watching a lot of people die.
How does this odd couple sift their way through madness and hopefully survive every encounter they cross? Find out in my 37,000-word novella, Beyond the Lost Horizon, Book I in the dystopian survival Beyond the Lost Trilogy.
I’ll tell you what they won’t be doing, and that’s sitting on their asses and waiting for someone to take care of them. That would be a death sentence.
