We need more stories about consent, choice, and liberty
Stories about consent, choice, and liberty are too few and far in between. And most that exist skew left of center. It’s time to right the ship.
Consent and choice are buzzwords these days, even among Leftist ideological literary mantras. They might even throw around the term liberty, or at least freedom.
Then, they hit you with climate, limiting meat and dairy intake, promoting electric vehicles, open immigration, forced diversity and equity, and collective guilt. The critical thinker’s smart enough to realize there’s nothing remotely close to liberty or freedom here.
Imagine books that value property rights, school choice in a market setting, and entire societies where free market capitalism stands front and center. Suddenly, a lot of so-called champions of freedom would show their hand.
Let’s take it a step further: Property rights become such a thing that property owners have a right to bar anyone they want from their property for any reason. Don’t agree with the lifestyle of an individual who just walked into your shop? You have every right to ask them to leave based on that lifestyle alone.
That’s what stories about consent, choice, and liberty should look like. Not that the shop owner must respect a customer’s lifestyle and conduct business with them. That doesn’t champion property rights. It destroys them.

Stories about consent, choice, and liberty shine with me
My brand is all about taking back institutions the Left hijacked. With DEI statements acting like a “force for good” and representation of authors from minority or marginalized groups for the sake of representing them, all while upholding coercive dogmas like climate change, it’s time for true, pro-liberty-minded authors to take a flamethrower and burn these narratives to the ground.
How do we fight back? History can teach us something in the age of ideological occupation. Just look at how the Americans won the Revolutionary War.
Right now, you got primarily the Left acting like the British. Total control is their game. And if you’re not 100 percent with their dogmas, you’re against them.
They also have massive strongholds over algorithmic-friendly platforms like Google, Amazon, Facebook (though this has stagnated since COVID), YouTube, and other Big Tech outlets. So much, that we can’t beat them face-to-face; the algorithm will kill us every time.
This is where secession and parallel systems come into play
You don’t need to ditch the platforms listed above. But you need an ecosystem. A mailing list, a self-hosted site, a direct sales page (or store), and third-party distribution outlets is how we put a dent in this thing.
Some call this “retreat,” but it’s strategic, not cowardly. Nor does it admit defeat.
Such outlets become familiar cyber terrain. While many Leftist authors could have all of the above, it’s all about getting our work visible through other means.
Seceding from dependency on Big Tech platforms, going with self-hosting and indie stores while cross-referencing with like-minded authors is what would get more stories about consent, choice, and liberty out there.
We’re not fighting for a dynasty or territory
Self-rule is the endgame, and making sure readers sick of the Leftist takeover we’ve seen plague the literary world in the 2020s (and even before then) have a refuge.
We don’t need to take back, or take, the territories that are Amazon, Google, Meta, etc. Instead, we just need to let readers know we exist, get them in front of our work, and in front of others.
Should that occur a few times over, give or take, those who value liberty and aren’t afraid to show it in their fiction will start winning games. So, if you’re a reader and you’ve been nodding along, you’re in the right place. Head over to The Rebel Lore Vault and get yourself my liberty-friendly work to see first-hand what I’m all about.
