Which Hogwarts Houses would the Catenarian Chronicles cast land in?
Sorting characters into Hogwarts Houses is a fun way to determine what they value. And my Catenarian Chronicles cast is ultra diverse here.
Oh, sorting characters into Hogwarts Houses is always a fun experiment. I touched on this one briefly in a recent article, but I wanted to take things a little further today with more insights and a deeper dive.
Below, I’m burning on nine major characters who play a massive role in the series at some point. Yeah, just because they have less ‘screen time,’ it doesn’t mean they’re not relevant.
I also kept a few names off this list to keep the aura of mystery surrounding them. So, if you read Cursed Mage and you see someone missing, you’ll know why.
Kaija Jokiharju
Well, Kaija’s not afraid to be open and brutally honest. She’s also a natural investigator, something you’ll find out as early as the prologue of Cursed Mage, and in the book’s first three chapters.
Better yet, she confronts fears without anyone needing to convince her to confront them. And when she makes up her mind to do something, especially if it means helping (or saving) a friend, she’s doing it. You can’t talk Kaija out of running toward danger, even if the cards are stacked against her.
Verdict: Gryffindor.
Satu Viiminen
Satu’s someone who’ll play the game by her own rules. No, she won’t go all the way out in the open and make her thoughts known like Kaija, but Sats always has a plan and follows it to a T.
Plus, she leaves no stone unturned, anticipating every possible scenario before she acts. She’s not one to match wits with, and, as a cerebral tactician, she also thinks on her feet in the event she lets something slip by.
Verdict: Ravenclaw
Ella Kinnunen
Ella’s the sneakiest girl you’ll ever meet. And she’s one who’ll act on her own terms, smoothly lying to an adult’s face if it means gaining an advantage over them. Sure, she uses this little charm of hers for good, but it shows off her sly, cunning nature.
Ella’s also someone who’ll lead the popular clique, but doesn’t mind inviting outliers or perceived outliers into it. She’s friendly enough for anyone to like and hang out with her, and is loyal to a fault when it comes to her best friends, like Kaija. But if you’re not one of them, she may put you over with a straight face.
Verdict: Slytherin
Heikki Kinnunen
Ella’s twin brother, and one whose loyalty to the Augury Party doesn’t die. Even when he doesn’t agree with the Auguries and even goes as far as to resist them, he’ll still take the punishment they hand down to him.
Heikki’s also much more straightforward than Ella, even if he needs to show a cunning, calculating nature thanks to her questionable actions. Ultimately, though, he’ll fall in lockstep with the Party line even if he believes they’re in the wrong, and his overall resistance only goes so far.
Verdict: Hufflepuff
Edvin Korhonen
Edvin’s a character who’ll put on the facade that he’s not who he says he is. But, like Ella, he’ll often lie to keep characters close to him off his tracks, and he’ll also go as far as to play up to them.
One of the more complex minor characters in Cursed Mage, Edvin’s the perfect definition of a ‘frenemy.’ Sometimes, he’ll help Kaija, but other times, he’s antagonistic. And Kaija doesn’t know what to think of him.
Verdict: Slytherin
Katri Lehtinen
Have you ever met that popular girl who’s only in the cool clique because of who her parents know? Yeah, that’s Katri. She’s your typical ‘good girl’ who’ll welcome an outsider into her arms, but shield them from the ‘mean girls’ (and guys) she hangs out with more because they’re people Mom and Dad told her to be friends with.
And if her so-called friends have a problem with it? Katri will take care of them, even if it costs her connections.
Verdict: Hufflepuff
Kaarina Taivalkoski
Kaarina would be a hatstall in real life. Why? Because she’s a military veteran who can’t stand her nation’s empire. She only served because, as a Mage Master, she didn’t have much of a choice, and to gain more insight on the nation of Vimsinew’s imperialist ways.
Then, she took what she learned, put systems and people in place, and built a complex underground network. And best yet, she’s a good judge of character. If she treats others with utmost respect, it means she sees something in them and is ‘softly’ inviting them into her world.
Verdict: Ravenclaw
Radclyffe Nerthol
He’s big, tall, ripped, and brutal. Radclyffe’s someone who had an ultra-tough upbringing, and the Augury Party’s rival, the Mercenary Party, is responsible for that upbringing.
But you know what? Radclyffe knows that, and it never once fazed him. He’s loyal to the Mercenaries so much that he believes all of what they put him through was necessary and just.
Verdict: Hufflepuff
Gareth Nerthol
Like Radclyffe, the Mercenaries subjected Gareth, who’s only mentioned in the first two books of the series, through the same thing. Unlike Radclyffe, he’s looking to bring down the Mercenaries, and he may not be quite done if he accomplishes that.
Gareth’s also someone who’ll pop up in the most random places, run into danger, do what he needs to, and run into more danger. The process continues and, through it all, Gareth never flinches.
Verdict: Gryffindor
Ready to meet some of these characters? If you said ‘yes,’ then head on over to my personal store and snag Cursed Mage. You’ll save a good 25 percent there as opposed to if you bought it on other outlets.
