A libertarian fiction scene, featuring a lone man in a tattered cloak standing at the edge of a cliff, staring down a palace.

Why my libertarian fiction isn’t for the faint-hearted

My libertarian fiction pulls no punches—complex plots, real consequences, and zero “safe” storytelling. Read only if you can handle it.

If you’ve stumbled across my work and are wondering whether it’s for you, let me save you the trouble: my books aren’t “safe.”

They aren’t mass-market, lowest-common-denominator stories engineered to offend no one and challenge nothing. They’re written for a specific reader who values freedom over comfort, complexity over hand-holding, and truth over PR-polished narratives.

Here’s the blunt truth about what you’ll get if you pick up one of my novels.

1. No preaching or pandering

I don’t spoon-feed ideology, and I don’t write propaganda for any side. The libertarian and anti-authoritarian currents in my stories are there, but they’re woven into the plot and characters; never dropped on your head like a moral-of-the-story brick.

If you’re looking for fiction that trusts you to “get it” without a lecture, you’ll feel right at home.

2. Characters who actually pay a price

In my worlds, bad things happen, and they matter. Characters get hurt, lose people they care about, and make mistakes they can’t walk back.

If you’re sick of fiction where the reset button gets hit every chapter, you’ll appreciate that consequences stick. There’s no better example of this than in Astray Mage, Book II of the Catenarian Chronicles.

3. Plots that bite back

Multiple threads, political intrigue, personal relationships, and ideological clashes run side-by-side and intersect. So much, you may need a scorecard to keep up.

These aren’t paint-by-numbers plots. If you want complexity and depth, you’ll find it here. But if you’re looking for a straight line from Point A to Point B, you won’t.

4. Ideology as character, not a soapbox

Freedom, loyalty, corruption, and resistance are battlegrounds my characters live and die on. They fight, question, and change because of it.

You’ll get the philosophical bite without the sermon. Wind Wielder might be the only real outlier here. It’s rougher, but it’s the seed that grew the rest.

5. Pacing that respects your intelligence

I won’t stop every five pages to explain the obvious. My readers don’t need training wheels, and I don’t write for people who do.

Sure, some of my books have exposition, especially if we’re diving into alternate history realms. But for the most part, your mind’s going to work.

My libertarian fiction’s not perfect, and I don’t pretend it is

I’ll give you my weaknesses, too, because if you read me, you should know exactly what you’re getting. So here goes nothing:

  • Abrupt Scene Transitions: Sometimes I jump between moments without all the in-between steps. Most of my readers keep up, but you might need to lean in.

  • Uneven Sensory Detailing: My action and dialogue are sharp, but I don’t always slow down to paint every smell, sound, or texture. If you want wall-to-wall description, I’m not your author.

  • Injury Realism: Occasionally, wounds heal a little faster than they probably should. But then again, adrenaline’s taking over here, especially in ultra-tense situations.

  • Delayed Emotional Payoffs: Sometimes the big emotional moments land later than you expect, and it’s by design, but it’s not for everyone.

  • Worldbuilding That Throws You In: I don’t give long clumps of history lessons unless it’s the Terrian Chronicles. You’ll learn the factions, runes, and politics as you go. If you like figuring things out, great. If you don’t, you’ll feel lost.

Safe fiction’s for the mainstream mass market, not my readers

You won’t find my books in cozy book club lists. That’s by design.

If you want “safe” fiction with predictable stories, morally sanitized characters, and politics so generic they could come from a corporate HR manual, you’re not going to like my books.

But if you want stories with teeth, worlds with consequences, and characters who live and breathe the fight for true liberty, then you’re exactly who I’m writing for.

And I’ll promise you this: I’ll never write down to you.
