A wide digital painting of a teenage girl with rust-colored hair standing confidently on a cracked marble staircase inside a damaged academy hall. Blue elemental energy crackles around her glowing fists. Behind her, large banners hang torn, one partially burning as flames rise up the steps. Silhouetted students watch from the background through smoky light. The scene is dramatic and rebellious, blending magical power with a crumbling institutional interior.

Arcane Elemental Academy sticks a middle finger to the woke cult

The woke cult has invaded fiction and now its the best time for liberty lovers to swing back. That’s another reason I wrote Arcane Elemental Academy.

I have a laundry list of reasons why I wrote my YA fantasy Arcane Elemental Academy. But when I write books, I have two goals in mind.

The first is what every author craves: I want readers to love my work. The second one is what every author should crave. I want readers to fucking hate my work.

If there’s one thing I notice with ideological fiction critique, it’s when reviewers say, “This shouldn’t be in a young adult book.”

Who the fuck are they to try and gatekeep? I’ll tell you who they are: insecure, low-influence sticklers who demand conformity to their worldview and get pissed off when authors use fiction to contradict that worldview.

I’ve always said that if you piss someone off with your writing, you’re doing something right. You’re exposing insecure jagoffs who lack emotional intelligence. And really, my writing just offers a simple alternative. But these people have their heads shoved so far up their asses that they take it as a personal insult.

And if it’s a dude coming after me, I’m gonna buy ’em a skirt and tell ’em they need to wear it to work.

A young adult fiction author shouldn’t be talking like this!

Yeah, I can already see them flipping out because I’m swearing more than Gordon Ramsay in that above section. The woke cult might hate that opening more than anyone else, especially with the colorful language.

But have we forgotten that we talked that way when we were between ages 12 and 17? Are we in denial about that? Hey, how many of us openly talked about sex? I know I did. Or what we would do with that smoking hot student teacher when we were 13?

And how many of us still sit back and reminisce? So, yeah, I’m going to talk like this because that’s how young adults talk. Hell, I remember listening to just about every rapper with a dirty mouth once upon a time. Rappers whose lyrics we’d recite in school.

So why would I change my philosophy, clean up my voice, and pretend that my fiction emulates young adults when, in fact, it wouldn’t? It’s probably why so many youngsters are attracted to alternative voices. Kids can relate to alt media as opposed to sanitized voices they get with big corporations, public schools, and even sports leagues.

A giant middle finger to the woke cult

The Arcane Prophecy by TC MartiSome of us tossed the woke cult a giant middle finger before it was cool to. Others started it in the early 2020s when they realized there was nothing morally just about joining it. Still, others are now discovering how parasitic it is.

Say what we tell you to or else you’re an awful person. That’s their vibe these days. Hell, when I’m at the day job and the word insane joins the list of forbidden terms because it might offend someone regarding mental illness, there’s a problem.

Here’s the truth: Everyone’s got a mental illness if you really think about it. And if you can’t control your own mental health, then maybe your life just sucks?

Suck it up like my girl Yote Diamondback learns to. Yote’s constantly one-upped thanks to her sister, Jett Diamondback. And when she gets the upper hand, Jett’s laying the smackdown later, intentionally trying to hurt Yote.

Yote’s life ain’t a picnic. Meet her right now, and you’ll see just how much hell she’s forced to deal with. But you know what? Yote don’t back down. And neither should you if you’re sick of the woke cult invading fiction. Check out the first three chapters of Yote’s journey now if you’re looking for fiction that bites back.
