Dark shadow government controlling Etharia: Scarlet Bones Society

The Scarlet Bones Society isn’t like the Death Eaters. They have a track record of controlling Etharia and members could be your next-door neighbor.

When I wrote the first draft of The Arcane Prophecy, I didn’t want to recreate the Death Eaters. In Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort may’ve been “taking over.” But when he couldn’t even seize control of a school, his “reign of terror” ended with a whimper.

Flashback to when Gellert Grindelwald was terrorizing Europe “for the greater good.” I love that slogan, by the way. You see so many institutions, including my former employer, using it. It’s how one with evil intentions could have their way with the unsuspecting masses.

Grindelwald-like figures run the world we live in today, and he’s much, much closer to what the leader of the Scarlet Bones Society is. For this profile, I’m not revealing that leader’s name, even if you’ll meet them in Arcane. Instead, I’m sharing a quick history lesson with you.

The Scarlet Bones Society thrives at the university level

You don’t need to guess which particular society inspired the name “Scarlet Bones.” If you don’t know what I’m getting at, then you’ve been living under a rock. They were founded decades before the events of The Arcane Prophecy, originally made up of privileged university students whose fathers were either industrial tycoons or held a high place in the Etharian Government.

You also had to be an Elemental to join. No outsiders welcome. This set the stage for what the Scarlet Bones would become: a pipeline to power, either in industry, government, and later on, new major revolutionary innovations.

These people ultimately gained influential status among tech giants and advanced weapons manufacturers. The Acrax (non-Elementals) became their foot soldiers, either as employees up to mid-to-upper management or boots on the ground as infantry in Etharia’s foreign conquests.

That said, the Acrax living across the nation are restricted to specific careers and subjected to controlled narratives, even if they don’t realize it.

The Scarlet Bones control the State and the State controls the Etharians

The Arcane Prophecy by TC MartiThe Scarlet Bones exerts control over education in both Acrax and Elemental institutions. By the time The Arcane Prophecy’s events roll around, only one school resisted them: the Arcane Elemental Academy.

So what happens when a young girl born into an elite family that may have ties to the Scarlet Bones enters Arcane? That’s a question you’ll start finding the answers to by reading the first three chapters of The Arcane Prophecy. Check them out now and meet Yote Diamondback.

And check out The Arcane Elemental Academy Hub for more character profiles.
