Where Invasion and Escape Entwined: State Line Trail

The State Line Trail was a place of solace in Beyond the Lost Horizon. Unfortunately, it also made for a good spot for the terrorists to lay low.

In the evening hours on a fateful night in Jul. 2030, a group of armed men gathered at three different entrances to the State Line Trail. Their task was simple: hitchhike to the Sky Concert Venue in the next state over.

Once given the green light, they were to unleash havoc in one of over a thousand coordinated terrorist attacks to strike America. And one of thousands more to strike the developed world—all in one cataclysmic moment.

The men smiled and nodded at passersby. They made just enough small talk to look harmless, all while keeping their weapons concealed until sunset. Then, they marched up a massive embankment, before the concert venue came into focus. When they sprayed the concertgoers with bullets, Phase 1 was in action—the part designed to be loud.

But little did these men know, two people survived the onslaught and would escape onto that same trail.

Enter Quinn Cozens and Yui Kikuchi

Beyond the Lost Horizon by TC MartiThe State Line Trail was the first place that came to Quinn Cozens‘ mind. But he was lucky, since most of the terrorists already left the trail to invade the concert venue and the surrounding areas, with just a few sticking around the trail itself.

But the latter were so small in number that Quinn and his reluctant sidekick, Yui Kikuchi, easily missed them. In Beyond the Lost Horizon, this put the duo behind most of the terrorists, allowing them not only to escape the concert, but also to work their way back off the trail and up an embankment, keeping them behind the onslaught.

That said, and as you might guess, they at some point will run smackdab into these people. What happens when they do, and how will they handle it?

You’ll find out early in Beyond the Lost Horizon. Get the 37,000-word sprint now, and see what happens when our dynamic duo have dozens of guns pointed at them at point-blank range.
