Future Leaders of Etharia Only: Lamerth Elemental Academy
Lamerth Elemental Academy is the equivalent of elitist high schools you see in the real world. Except it trains Elementals.
For Yote Diamondback, Lamerth is the standard she’s been measured against since childhood. With such rigorous admissions, even the best and brightest may need to take other routes. Something Yote finds out the hard way.
At Lamerth, a prospect needs more than a 4.0-plus grade point average. They need a well-known and well-connected name, like Diamondback. Influence in the corporate world or public policy is a must, and one needs to possess enough ambition to graduate and get funneled into the pipeline for an elite university.
They also need to be athletes, as every student at Lamerth has played multiple sports throughout their youth and middle school years. Finally, they need community service hours, plus extracurriculars that go beyond sports and deal with leadership.
Even then, space is limited and admissions make tough, cutthroat decisions.
Lamerth Elemental Academy is a modern marvel
Imagine a high school campus nestled just outside the hills of Appalachia, slightly to the northwest. The buildings are made of marble from both the inside and out. They lack insulation. Instead, labor from low-key Elementals power the place day and night, as part of the academy’s “green initiative.”
Those laborers stay well-hidden and they don’t venture out into the open. If they did, they’d lose their jobs. Nope. The marble better light up at night, provide adequate air conditioning during the hotter months, and heat during the cooler months. If not, Lamerth cuts underperforming laborers loose.
To the nation of Etharia, the place is flawless, with lush bluegrass trimmed and maintained daily making up the many yards. Cement paths with not a single chip out of place provide winding roadways for students as they venture to and from class. And if you name the upscale cuisine, there’s a 100 percent chance Lamerth has it.
From Lamerth to elite university to elite job pipeline
Academics are more rigorous than admissions, and Lamerth operates on a curved grading scale. The bottom 15 percent in each class at the end of a semester get cut. Incoming freshmen, even in the middle of the school year, replace them.
This keeps competition high. It guarantees only the best and brightest graduate with distinction. Once they graduate, they will have the grades, the extracurricular and athletic background, and even a few college credits for application into an elite university. Universities with beyond-selective admissions.
The process repeats itself when a student ends up in college, all the way until they earn an entry-level job. A job that will ultimately take them atop the societal food chain.
