Readers who rage click and post screenshots do us a favor
Readers who rage click are only giving us authors unafraid to say what’s on our minds more publicity. And there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
Ever get a reader rage click through to your posts and screenshot them on social media? If you’re feeling bad or embarrassed about this, don’t be. They just did you a massive fucking favor and you may not even realize it.
Here’s the score: when a reader rage clicks, screenshots, and shares work of yours that they hate, you’re going to get a lot of haters. But you’re also getting a lot of people who’ll say, “You know what? I agree with the guy they’re hating on.”
That’s why rage clickers help you out. A lot of those people who’ll laugh at those seemingly thinking they’re inconveniencing you will seek you out. That leads to new regular readers and probably a few new customers.

Don’t worry about readers who rage click
I used to rage click. Did it several times a day. Know where it got me? Nowhere fast.
Better yet, do you know why I stopped rage clicking? Too many people close to me asked, “TC, what do they care? They’re probably laughing at you.”
Chances are, they were right. The people I rage clicked against either made a living from their work or they had large followings. So why would they care about me and potentially thousands of others rage clicking and screen capturing their work?
Who looks like the real idiot here? Someone producing content that’s compelling enough to draw readers and opinions from across the board? Or someone who spends all day angry and has nothing better to produce but screenshots of someone else’s work while sharing an opinion that five people care about?
If you’re a rage clicker, you’re a laughing stock
It’s plain and simple: if you rage click, you’re not doing yourself any favors or winning respect from anyone noteworthy. Fellow rage clickers will like your status update and vocally agree with it.
But it’s a small percentage of people. And what’s your reward? A dopamine rush that’ll last for a few minutes tops before you need to find something else to rage click over?
Plus, will your rage clicks filter any of what the person you’re railing against writes next? The odds are slim to none. Heck, they may even use your rage clicks as inspiration to write more edgy content, knowing it’s polarizing.
So, keep up with your rage clicking if you’re interested in the person you’re hating on to keep getting exposure. Those who can’t stand the content creator you’re rage clicking against will tune in to see what they share next. But so will those who will love that creator’s work. And those new fans you led to that content creator are return readers, viewers, or even customers.
Some content creators bait rage clickers
Know who made a living on rage clicks once upon a time? Quinn Cozens. Quinn was notorious for drawing in rage clickers, thanks to his NFL commentary and hot takes.
Yet when America collapsed on that fateful night in July 2030, Quinn wasn’t thinking of the next way to piss off his next batch of rage clickers. He was thinking about how to help save his country from a group of terrorists with a sidekick he found annoying.
How did Quinn fare? Check out my Beyond the Lost trilogy, which is already available to members of the Vault VIP Club.
