The Man Hiding Behind the Veil: Archer Shade
Nobody will spark curiosity more than Archer Shade. He’s mentioned often and rarely seen. Then, the truth bomb drops and readers learn his role.
- Parents: Abaddon and Venna Shade
- Sibling: Bishop Shade
- Fun Fact: Shade’s loosely based on Hunter Biden and Eric Trump
- Hogwarts House: Slytherin
- Arcane School: None
- Birthday: Feb. 29/Mar. 1
Shade’s roughly middle-aged, but with smooth facial features that make him appear younger than he looks. He has slick, black hair, a skin tone that rests between a pale and olive complexion, and sharp facial features.
Throughout The Arcane Prophecy, you’ll learn one thing about Archer Shade: the guy’s a master of fitness program design. He has an entire team working for him around the clock writing up individualized programs for his clients across the nation of Etharia.
Sounds boring. What makes a personal trainer with a team of program designers so interesting? It’s the status of those clients Shade works with, like Zane Diamondback, the father to our protagonist Yote Diamondback.
Starting in Chapter 1, Zane pushes Yote and her sister Jett past their limits, in the hopes it’ll land them into the elite Lamerth Elemental Academy. It’s the most prestigious Elemental high school in the nation, and Shade only works with clients with such high aspirations.
Archer Shade has a direct line to Etharia’s elite
These connections play well into Shade, as he can mold the Etharians to fit his vision. Best yet, he’s operating from behind the scenes.
Because who would expect someone owning a mega fitness corporation of wielding his power in key aspects of Etharian politics? And since Etharia is the superpower, it would, in turn, affect the entire World of Xadis.
It’s not uncommon to see Archer attending high-end parties, some of which the Diamondback family hosted before The Arcane Prophecy’s events. Parties that include the most powerful businessmen, politicians, lobbyists, celebrities, and even athletes.
Shade runs a tight ship
Shade also holds a sense of adventurism, so it’s not surprising that he nudges Yote into attending Arcane when she gets her hopes up about Lamerth. From a distance, Shade keeps tabs on Yote. Noting her progress, and sending her updated training programs, which she follows off-screen.
Overall, Shade may be the most interesting character you’ll know little about if you didn’t read this small profile. Catch Shade making a cameo in the first three chapters of The Arcane Prophecy, because that’s the last you’ll see of him for a while.
