Beyond the Lost Assault’s Anti-Jackie: Ajay

ByTC Marti

Ajay is one of the first characters you’ll meet at the Colony. While she’s nothing like Quinn’s sister, Jackie, she’s also his mulligan.

  • Parents: Redacted
  • Sibling: One unnamed brother
  • Fun Fact: Ajay’s nickname comes from a girl I went to high school with
  • Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff (Hatstall with Ravenclaw)
  • Occupation: Medic
  • Birthday: Jul. 4, 2013

Ajay’s real name is Amanda, but since it’s so common, she prefers Ajay (pronounced AJ). She’s one of the youngest characters in Beyond the Lost, and is still high school-aged throughout the trilogy, having turned 17 just days before the attack on America and the developed world in Jul. 2030.

She has a slender build, with dark red hair, green eyes, pale skin, and attractive features. But don’t mistake Ajay’s youth for naivety. Her worldview is set in stone when Quinn Cozens formally meets her in Beyond the Lost Assault, and she’s a die-hard right-wing conservative.

Quinn learns early that she’s one hell of a debater. To the point she got the best of him early in the book.

Ajay is brilliant and loyal, and quietly courageous

Beyond the Lost Horizon by TC MartiAjay is one of a few characters who make a brief cameo in Beyond the Lost Horizon before her character reveals itself in Assault. While she and Quinn butt heads, they forge a brother-sister bond.

Quinn, knowing there was no way he could make things right with this sister, Jackie Cozens, who is missing, tries again with Ajay. It goes beyond the protector role he played regarding Yui Kikuchi in Horizon, because in the Colony, there was no need for protection.

That said, Ajay’s a girl who agrees little with Quinn. Not much different from the way Quinn’s relationship with Jackie went to hell because of their intense number of disagreements with everything from politics to their philosophies on life.

So, Quinn willingly plays that big brother role with Ajay. Something he never thought he’d end up playing when he and Ajay briefly cross paths in Horizon. Get it now and catch a glimpse of who will become one of Assault’s most dynamic characters.
