Digital painting of an awkward teenage boy with unkempt brown hair standing on a modern high school campus in autumn, wearing mismatched shoes and cropped pants, with subtle elemental magic glowing around him and the Appalachian foothills rising in the background.

Friend-Zoned Nice Guy: Loki Kahne

Loki Kahne is that lovable underdog you root for. Even if he’s not winning, you need to give him an ‘A’ for effort. That’s if Arcane handed out grades.

  • Parents: Ragnar and Jadis Kahne
  • Siblings: Damien, Fenrir, and Abel Kahne
  • Fun Fact: Ducky from Pretty in Pink inspired Loki
  • Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
  • Arcane School: Leonid
  • Birthday: Dec. 1
  • Named After: The Trickster God in the Norse tradition, despite personality differences

There’s one easy way to sum up Loki Kahne: He’s a dork. Loki may be a box thrashball player, but his stylistic preferences draw stares, with pants whose hem reaches above his ankles. He also prefers two different shoes, and he carries an awkward demeanor, usually rubbing his hands when out and about in public.

Loki has a lanky build and is slightly underweight. He walks with a cryptid-like stride, and he’s got slightly unkempt brown hair.

Despite his dorky demeanor, Loki’s a talented and aggressive thrashball player, often finding himself in an energy role for his team. He’s also a prolific fighter when playing the game, never afraid to square off against opponents larger than him. In The Arcane Prophecy, he and Storm Sharpe go back and forth all game before a fight finally breaks out.

Loki’s role in The Arcane Prophecy

Loki’s the first student at Arcane Elemental Academy who Yote meets. She’s immediately disgusted with him, thanks to his poor eating manners. Still, they become friends when they ultimately cross paths again on campus.

Loki finds himself playing a protector role at times, especially when Cassara Darkwood is around, and trying to make life tough for Yote. Other times, he’s Yote’s voice of reason, and is usually the first one at her side when she needs help with gathering clues to solve a mystery that’s nagging at her.

Despite being “there for Yote” through thick and thin, Yote sees Loki as a friend, and not a love interest. This makes Storm overshadow him in more ways than one. Loki can fantasize all he wants, but at the end of the day, he’s nothing more than a role player.

Loki Kahne is Yote’s first friend from a different school

The Arcane Prophecy by TC MartiUnlike the other major characters in The Arcane Prophecy, Loki isn’t a Scorpii. Instead, he attends Leonid, which is one of Scorpii’s chief rival schools.

When Yote first told him that she chose Scorpii, he groaned. Loki immediately made it sound as though Scorpii was a school for people who sold out everything those at Arcane, in Aurora Village, and the Northern Region, value.

But Scorpii is the best place for Yote, as opposed to Leonid or any other school. Think of it as the Slytherin House of the series, and the first three chapters of The Arcane Prophecy will show you why Yote’s such a good fit for Scorpii.
