Shedding conservative and liberal tears with cozy controversy in a YA fantasy
Conservative and liberal tears with few rage clicks await my YA fantasy, Arcane Elemental Academy. But you know what? It’s time to dismantle the institutions.
In The Arcane Prophecy, Yote Diamondback does a little happy dance and quips, “Nothing grooves like a Diamondback.”
And nothing grooves like building a foundation to put a dagger into one of many institutions Cultural Marxists have long controlled. These days, the literary universe has normalized rebellion against the Laws of Nature with emphasis and issues like LGBTQ and whatever else is in that group of alphabet soup.
Not that I’m against sprinkling in such characters, with one of my own, Liza Fury, clocking in as a B. But that’s just it: You got outliers all over the place, which neither myself nor most libertarians give a damn about — unless they’re totally badass like Liza.
The inconvenient truth
But these people want to go all “run and shoot,” trying in vain to make you and your kids believe what isn’t normal is normal. And if you think otherwise, people with power and influence have convinced us that the following is also normal:
- Compulsory schooling until age 18
- Specific services belonging exclusively to the public sector
- Government must step in and make commodities affordable
- Perpetual war is normal
- Mass surveillance is fine if you have nothing to hide
- Obesity is fine
- Fiat money is normal and the gold standard is not normal
- Government has the masses’ best interests at heart
- Those same masses are a bunch of idiots incapable of looking after themselves
- Anyone who disagrees with the above dogmas are conspiratorial nutjobs
Fortunately, The Arcane Prophecy and all my fiction dissect these lies with surgical precision. 32 private schools, a village and region that rolled ALL so-called public services into the market, and people with enough tact to realize that voting is a soft means of potentially telling your neighbor where their tax dollars will go, or vice versa.

Liberal tears will shed, but that outrage ain’t isolated
With the political Left in charge of institutions like those in the literary world, it’s easy to target them when I write fiction. But when you look at the list above, don’t think Arcane won’t draw ire from the Right.
Like the Left, many on the Right also believe in compulsory schooling — I got the entire “Frank Hoagland believes in strong schools” nonsense stuck in my head as I write this — that some services must be in the public sector, and we need to station our military in 100 or so countries to maintain peace and deter terrorism.
I still don’t know how they keep convincing themselves of that last one, considering America’s poor track record. Still, the truth remains: The Left AND the Right are statists at heart while The Arcane Prophecy and the Arcane Elemental Academy series rips their dogmas to shreds.
Statists, be warned: The Arcane Prophecy bites
Arcane will bite and bust myths. Myths that we need government for even the simplest “public services,” and that we can do without the market in avenues like schooling, taking care of the roads, money printing, etc.
I won’t lie: The Arcane Prophecy comes with a Harry Potter-inspired kick-ass story that liberty-loving, State-bashing YA readers will love. But if you’re a pure statist, or if you even try to justify why the State should exist despite its parasitic ways, you won’t like the themes. Especially the fact that I don’t present my worldview as utopian.
Should one open their mind and realize free markets and capitalism aren’t these big, bad boogeymen that government schools claim they are (because what the hell else would a government-funded school claim?) they’ll learn a thing or two.
Check out The Arcane Prophecy
It all takes that “crossing the first threshold” move and having a “come to” with yourself, realizing government institutions that exist by coercion told you what to think. Now, start dismantling the brainwashing by reading the first three chapters of The Arcane Prophecy.
Don’t worry. I don’t inject a ton of anarcho-capitalism into that sample. But when you love it, only then will the conservative and liberal tears you may’ve shed, depending on your current stance, start drying up and you might just pick up a new mindset. It’s never too late.
